Adolescent Dog Training in Dorking
COVID-19 lockdown has meant that we have had to change our approach at Dorking Puppy Training as obviously we cannot run our physical 7 week courses for puppy training.
However, we have taken the training online as your puppy will still need to be trained – we have already had amazing feedback on how it works.
You can start your 6 weeks of video lessons at any time, with new course work being sent weekly. A real advantage of videos is you can rewatch them at anytime, 24 hours a day.
In addition, you can contact Claire with any isssues you are having and even send her videos of your dog so she can give you specific instructions on a 1-2-1 basis.
Our Dorking puppy trainers will be running Adolescent Dog Training Life Skills 7.30pm every Tuesday for an hour in the Newdigate Village Hall. If you have just taken on a rescue dog or your adolescent dog is no longer listening to you, then this is the course for you.
Claire and her colleagues will cover all the basic commands you need to have a well-trained dog, plus how to deal with any problems you may be having such as jumping up and barking. We will help you to understand how dogs learn and why they do the things they do plus the importance of mental stimulation. In the summer months, we will also do training outside – our venue has both indoor and outdoor training facilities.
Adolescent Dog Training classes include;
- Getting your dog’s attention amongst distractions – keeping your dog’s focus on you
- Teaching your dog to relax and be calm around other dogs and people
- Recalls – building up the level of distraction
- Walking on a loose lead
- Self-control around food, dogs and people
- How to settle and be calm
- Mentally stimulating ways in which you can occupy your dog at home
